2019 Postseason

Post by J.J. » Sun Mar 17, 2019 11:45 am

NEC is likely looking at just 2 postseason teams, and here is my bracketology predictions:

NCAA
#16 Fairleigh Dickinson vs. #16 Iona (MAAC)
Winner vs. #1 Duke or Virginia

NIT
#8 Saint Francis at #1 St. John's

I don't see Robert Morris getting a CIT bid, but it is an outside possibility.

Robert Morris has already accepted a CIT invitation. St. Francis-Brooklyn likewise for the CBI.

Wow. I know those are pay to play, but how bad are these tourneys? Even worse, CCSU has never even sniffed one of them

Yale get a respectable #14 seed in the Big Dance

The Robert Morris University men's basketball team has accepted an invitation to take part in the 2019 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). The Colonials will be making their second appearance in the CIT in program history and their first since 2012.

RMU's opponent will be announced later this week. It marks the eighth postseason appearance for the Colonials in the last 12 years, which includes three automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament (2009, 2010, 2015) and three appearances in the NIT (2008, 2013, 2014).

The St. Francis Brooklyn men's basketball team has accepted a national postseason invitation to the Collegeinsider.com Tournament (CIT) as announced today by head coach Glenn Braica.

It marks the first time in program history that the Terriers will play in the CIT and their first appearance in a national postseason tournament since the 2015 National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
In the last 12 years CCSU has 1 NEC Tourney win - that's pathetic!

The NEC is regulated to Dayton yet again.

DYK - The Northeast Conference has played in the Opening Round every year since 2013 and has 2-4 record heading into this year's matchup.

Fairleigh Dickinson vs. Prairie View A&M in the First Four

In America East ...

Vermont get a #13 seed and a "home" game in Hartford vs. #4 Florida State.

The NEC is a garbage can of crap - so what does that make Central?

This used to be a great day and loved following the selections, now days it is embarrassing.

At some point real soon, we have to figure out why CCSU wants to remain D-I if we aren't investing and promoting the program like Vermont and Murray State. These should be our public "peers" yet we literally are not in their league when it comes to budget or success.

The sad and frustrating thing is JJ that we could be and we should be. There is absolutely no reason why the second largest university in the state of CT with an undergraduate population of 12,000+ cannot compete in both men’s and women’s basketball not only with the Vermont’s and Murray State’s, but the Fairleigh Dickenson’s and Wagners.

Agreed, we should be but it must be hard trying to lobby that when we can’t win since 2007. We haven’t even sniffed a bid in 12, going on 13 years. Maybe if DM can pull something off in 2021 but if he can’t? What AD in the country would resign him with the three years we’ve seen so far plus two more losing years which means we start over in 2022. I feel dead inside 😂

HOOPS...I’ll be 64 this year. I don’t have too many years left so they better do something quick.

In the mean time, I bought myself a University of South Florida (about 15 miles from my house here) polo shirt that I wear with pride.

Hell...I have to root for some team...why not the Bulls?

Sky - you know you're preaching to the choir. You've seen enough of this madness over the years, I'm not sure when CCSU leadership stops making excuses and starts with a bold plan to be competitive with schools we once considered peers.

It is pathetic that schools like Quinnipiac, Monmouth, UMBC, Buffalo, and Hofstra have already put us in the rearview mirror. Have a feeling in just a few years RMU will move on as well.

NIT
Saint Francis (PA) at Indiana
Hofstra at NC State
Arkansas at Providence

CBI
Stony Brook at South Florida
Loyola Marymount at Cal Baptist
Alabama-Birmingham at Brown

CIT
Quinnipiac at NJIT
Cornell at Robert Morris
St. Francis Brooklyn at Hampton

Agree on RMU, they wouldn't be playing to pay if they weren't looking to get out. Our leaders always cry resources and do very little. Granted Schlickmann got the upgrades and logo changed but I'm not seeing our new AD as a guy who's going to kick doors open for us. Seems complacent. Hope I'm wrong. Hope he's nice on the outside and a tyrant on the inside who is kicking arse and taking names. Time will tell, but as I said before and I'm sure I'll say again, this losing $h!t is getting old...

In a time when the state university system, the state of Connecticut and sports in general are in some type of turmoil, it'll take more than six months for the new AD's ideas and philosophy to take hold. Best of luck to all.
