Post by Pitchfork317 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 10:39 pm

I haven't been to central in probly a year. Does anyone have any updates on the projects going on around campus?

I was away also but drove by the campus yesterday. The Willard/Diloretto project has finally begun. A good portion of the front lawn area is fenced off with, what I think is pretty cool, CCSU promos and an artist rendering of the project along the fence.

That's about it...I didn't see anything else but I'm sure our new 10,000 seat arena is right around the corner. ](*,)

I hope the start taking down the bubble soon. I think that project should be done in 2019 if I remember correctly. I wonder if they will complete the basketball court renovation before they finish off the workout facility where the bubble is. Hope they go that route and we get the finished kaiser product come 2018 🤔

I heard the other day that the gym court may be off limits for a year, while they do the renovations at Detrick Gym.
I hope that's not true, but, if it is, the men's and women's bball teams will have to find external places to play.

That would suck so much... taking the wind out of a season

What season, 2017-18 or 2018-19?

Last year we had few home games and a rebuilding year. If we are going to lose a season in Detrick, the sooner, the better.

Also, we don't need the gym for games from March through October, so that's 8 month it can be off limits and we can hold practices elesewhere. Maybe it doesn't have to effect the regular season.

If they are completely renovating kaiser it's going to be a looong project. But if it's just adding seats and bowing out the end where the "ccsu" banners hang, which I think is all they're doing, then it may just be an 8 month project going into the 18-19 season which would be great. I hate the idea of having home games away from ccsu with the incoming guys we're getting

I know I sound like a broken record but the project is the new Rec Center. Any work done on the gym itself will be minimal with the exception of knocking out the north wall for seating and a viewing area from the Rec center.

You are correct Pitchfork, it is very possible that the teams will be able to use the gym if they time the work correctly.

Ruining a season needs to be off the table, regardless of what they are doing.
