That's pretty much what happened Hill. A state rep from EH was heavily lobbied as were other stare reps. The site was a hazmat brownfield site and they received tons of federal money as well to clean it up.

The public would be shocked to learn of all the bonded money going to private construction projects.
To add, the public would be shocked to know how many state-funded organizations, especially non-profit ones, just sponge up dollars and amount to almost nothing. Just the amount of money that managers in non-profits get is, at least to me, unjustifiable, especially if you consider that the vast majority of managers are likely not good at being managers.

Maybe I'm naive but I just don't get bond money going to private businesses...including AI Engineers for future development.

I know the goal is to help employment in the state, but as a fiscal conservative, should private businesses take care of their own future plans?

Awful fiscal policy for the state - you don't borrow cash to grant to private companies.

Bonding (borrowing) should ONLY be used for State infrastructure and other public investments!

We should abate some taxes for large corporations that provides jobs as an incentive, and possibly provide loans to small, and growing local businesses. However, have the State pay for (and often borrow) for private interests (Yard Goats Stadium, Bob's Furniture Warehouse, etc.) is just insane.

Now, IMHO, this is over the top. If a corporation is successful and wants to expand, why are taxpayers asked to pay for the expansion?

I understand tax incentives to retain employment in the state, but to actually pay for a physical expansion, IMHO, is borderline extortion (thinking that this corporation my threaten to leave) and the state should play hardball.

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some back room deals going on here.

Meanwhile, I see no signs of construction on our campus this year.

A friend of mine who works at CCSU in Willard has moved into her temporary office in Carol. This is all part of vacating Willard and Diloretto so construction can begin on the "Willaretto" project so it looks like construction will start soon.

The new name will be Willaretto?

That name was just a goof someone here used to name the project. I'm sure they will keep the original names, one for each side.

"Willaretto" - what is this? Hogwarts?

It was a goof of a name developed right here. I'm 100 percent positive that "Willoretto" will not be the name. I'm sure that one side will be Diloretto and the other Willard...with the Amond School of Arts and Science.

The renderings make the present structures unrecognizable into one. I highly doubt there will be sides of the building. Look for s new name to mark a new error.

Here's the latest (and only?) video regarding the current master plan, in effect at CCSU. Hope you can open it.
It's really good! Although, it is hard to find for any one visiting the CCSU main page. It's not something that pops up or is mentioned on the home/main page.

Outstanding presentation! Thx DG

I'd like to read the actual printed master plan which, by CT law, must encompass items such as traffic volumes, socio-economic impacts, natural environmental impacts (remember the baseball field fiasco?) and other impacts that need to be addressed before approvals are granted.

Was hoping to see the basketball gym renovations on some level. Can't make football all nice and leave hoops in the 60's.

Wow! So is the Manafort garage going to be on the parking lot adjacent to Charter Oak State College ?
