0-4 start 2017-2018 season

Post by newbritainite » Sat Nov 25, 2017 10:57 am

What’s going on with wbb? Thought that the program was turned around a few years back but this is what we get? Why will it take to win some games? UHart did it... CCSU even won against them. What gives? Look at wbb at QU? No reason why we can’t do the same here in the wbb capitol of the world?!

Without studying it too closely, I think they are taking the football route, play waaaaay up in ooc and then do well in the league.

They do have a tough schedule, but they have losses to Brown, Albany, and Morgan State which are from conferences with which they should be competitive.
Yet in all three of those games they looked overmatched. I am sure they will get some NEC wins but this looks like it's going to be a lean year.

I was going to start a game thread but I can make the comments here. I missed the game on Monday but was able to watch live tonight. Positives were good contributions from the bench with 27 total points and 15-19 from the free throw line. Negatives are 2-12 from 3 and 12-44 from the floor. Other negatives are 25 turnovers and only 6 assists and the starters scoring only 14 points total in tonight's game.

It looks like this is going to be a long season. The team looks overmatched. The team lacks height and scorers. The offense has no flow. I hate to say it but when a new AD is hired Beryl may be under a win or be fired situation. Unlike Howie she has no NCAA tournament berths to fall back on. There have been some good seasons but recruiting overall has not consistently brought in enough talent and especially height.

Just some thoughts and thanks for reading.

That is the crux of the problem. There should be a couple of upperclassman bigs on this team but they were never recruited. I am talking about NEC level bigs...6'2" give or take. Berube may turn out to be a good interior player in the next few years but right now she is a freshman and being taken to school by her opponents. There is nobody else, that is a problem.
Another thing, I do not think that Patterson is suited to being the PG. The PG on this team should be looking to get the ball to either Lydon or Patterson. She gets less opportunities for open shots as a PG. Teams tend assign a defender to close coverage of the PG because of the importance of distributing the ball. It is analogous to a football team taking their best receiver and making him a QB, now you have lost your top receiver.

On a positive note, I think that the Emma McCamus is a good find. Even as a freshman she seems to be a very heady player, does anyone get reminded of Jessica Babe? She is not there yet, but I think there is a lot of potential and she needs a lot more playing time.

Another blowout loss by 25 to Duquesne. Looks like 0-11 non conference. Looks like it will be difficult to make the NEC tournament.

Yeah something is going on with the women. Doesn't look promising at all...
