1:13 into the first half and they realize the scoreboard isn’t tallying individual stats 🤦🏻‍♂️

CCSU was up by 8 (17-9), but trails by 5 at halftime 35-30.

Central not really running much of an offense. They look like young pups out there.

This is unwatchable.

Nice to hear C.J. with Bruce on the radio, but can we get these guys a monitor or some stats sheets up in the booth.

This is shaping up to be the worst season in CCSU history. Do we win 4 games this year?

1990-91: (4-24) Mike Brown - 3rd (final) season
1993-94: (4-22) Mark Adams - 3rd season
1997-98: (4-22) Howie Dickenman - 2nd season
2015-16: (4-25) Howie Dickenman - 20th (final) season
2019-20: (?-??) Donyell Marshall - 4th season

That was ugly. This team needs to use defense to create offense by pressing and trapping. This may be the worst season ever. Sad.

Next up the best team in the AE.
They have 1 loss, by single digits to Virginia, and a victory over St. John's.
This is not going to be pretty!

None of them will be pretty. Our offense looks like a pickup game in the quad... get the ball...shoot the ball... don’t get a rebound, lather, rinse, repeat. 4-3 is going to go out of his mind with all the mid range missed jumpers. The only good thing is the free throw shooting went up. And that’s honestly it. If has that 4 win Howie feel, it really does.

Ok we knew we were going to lose the game. I know NH started slow and had a lot of missed shots but I thought Central's defense started strong. Every time NH passed the ball a white Jersey was there. This team seems to have a real hard time in the second half and this game was no exception but they did bounce back from around 20 down to 10 down with a minute to go. I thought DM actually walked and talked on the side line at times and I believe actually took a few 30 second timeouts. Offense is still lost but I felt there were passing more and at times making great pass plays that the shots just did not fall.

If memory serves, that 1993-94 team had only two D1 wins (it was my first year covering for school paper). The 1997-98 season was tolerable because it was early in Howie's tenure and there were clear building blocks (Mickens, Payne). It's early, but this current group has a hopeless feel. And as we all know, if Outlaw or Baker develop, they'll likely leave.

Uhhhhh yeah...between the horrible shot selection and mindlessly double teaming penetrators only to leave wide open three point shooters, I couldn't take it anymore.

What's more...I felt like they stopped playing hard once UNH came back. Guys not even attempting to fight through screens, not running out on shooters, and not boxing out.

I've completely changed my tune in 24 hours, which is rare for me. I don't see this team winning 1 game (excluding Conn College), let alone 4.

Ah ... the "good old days," or in our case CCSU's " Dark Ages." 1993-94 was my Sophomore year at Central and the 4 wins that season were: Concordia (D-II), North Adams St. (D-II), City College of N.Y. (D-II), and Delaware St. The team was led by Mike Donnely, Garret Pettaway, and Scott Hasenjaeger. The team's "big man" was Pauly Petrov, a transfer from Washington State - who I remember from my floor in Vance Hall.

https://ccsu.prestosports.com/sports/mb ... 4Final.pdf

I recall there were some issues with that team, but those 3 guys weren't bad players. We just didn't have the depth, nor a playing style to be very competitive at the D-I level. I think that was part of Mark Adams' Running Blue Devils experiment

That was also our final year in the ECC - although the "conference" had just 6 members and no AQ to the the Tournament (it was more of a scheduling alliance between ADs). The following season would usher in the Keith Closs era and Central would join the Mid-Continent Conference, marking the first time since joining D-I that CCSU would have access to an automatic bid to the NCAAs.

JJ, I am not sure about Mark Adams " Running Blue Devils " but I do recall Coach Mike Brown's "Young Guns" as he was trying to emulate Paul Westhead's run and gun west coast offense that he was using at Loyola Marymount. Don't play defense and try to out shoot your opponent by chucking up as many shots as humanly possible. What a disaster that tactic turned out to be.
