2018-19 TV and Radio Coverage

Post by J.J. » Tue Oct 16, 2018 11:12 am

For the second year in a row, CCSU does not have a radio deal. :(

All 12 HOME games will be carried live on NEC Front Row with Bruce and Marc.

With the exception of 2 games carried by ESPNU/ESPN+, all NEC AWAY games will be carried on NEC Front Row with the home team's commentators.

The following 8 games will be carried by television networks:

Nov. 10 at Georgetown (Fox Sports 2)
Nov. 16 vs. Austin Peay (CBS Sports Network)
Nov. 18 vs. Florida A&M (CBS Sports Network)
Dec. 1 at Virginia Tech (ACC Network Extra) #
Dec. 16 at Providence (Fox Sports 1)
Dec. 29 at Oregon State (Pac-12 Network) %
Feb. 7 at Saint Francis (ESPNU)
Feb. 9 at Robert Morris (ESPN+)$

# ACC Extra is available on via Watch ESPN for cable/satellite customers
% Pac-12 Network has limited/no availability on the East Coast
$ ESPN+ is available on via Watch ESPN for subscribers

Please Please flip the switch on NEC front row so it allows casting to ChromeCast devices.

I would also expect the Hartford and Maine games to be broadcast on ESPN+ (ESPN+ is yet to unveil its schedule).

For the Loyola Marymount game, I THINK the WCC has an online streaming service, though I dont know the schedule/particulars.

The NCA&T game will be the most difficult to watch/listen to.

Right.. So much is changing in the media streaming world... Free one season - PayWall the next... Great quality streams one game. Not so great the next.

I think the one thing that every streamed game should have is consistent camera work. I sometimes feel like Im on a roller coaster with some of these feeds.

One thing we all can agree on is that for away games NEC games, there is nothing like having Bruce and Marc calling and color commentary. I bet you could even grab away video feeds and have Bruce and Marc do color/play by play right form their house our CCSU campus.

There are so many things that can be done, and simply are not. Who knows. Hopefully I get to meet the AD one of these days. I'd love to pick his brain and see where he's at. It's become apparent that the Howie dinners are a thing of the past, such a miss. In a world of media where every word gets published or can be streamed, and CCSU goes dark. The more things change...

Having met the new AD, I'd say he's receptive to all ideas and has said that he'll speak to anyone.
So, reach out to him; call or email him!

Sounds like a lag nightmare.

Maybe we could just go to their houses and watch together.

I get a lot of audio on an ios app ootunes. As a degenerate college basketball gambler I can find about 90% of mid major games on radio, you just search for call signs. It plays in the background so I can do other things with phone and listen - most team streaming sites don’t play in the background.
