Ok, so i'm just gonna say it.....why? what is the appeal of this kid? The numbers out there make it seem like he wasn't even a JUCO starter.

Yes, NCAA allows 13 full scholarships for MBB.
Central currently has according to Verbal Commit:
1 Bute
2 Kohl
3 Bowles
4 Batiste
5 C Williams
6 Kay
7 Hugely
8 Camacho
9 T Williams
10 Hicks
11 Coleman (Verbal Commit)
12 Ellis (Verbal Commit)
13 Wallace (Letter of Intent)
14 Underwood (Letter of Intent)

That is 14 scholarship players with only 13 scholarships available...hence my statement "something has to give."
Is that correct?

Coleman played 8.4 minutes per game and scored 3.4 points per game. It doesn't sound like much but if we project that rate to 36 minutes played it comes out to over 16 points. That tells me the guy is a scorer.

So the question is if he was scoring at that rate why wasn't he getting more playing time? Well, I don't know, but my first thought is that he was playing behind someone who was an even better scorer, or his game was deficient in some other aspect, possibly defense?

Obviously, the coaching staff sees something here that they think they can develop.

I looked at his stats. Not alot of assists and he has 26 Fouls with 251 minutes played.

The fouling is not bad, that projects to less than 4 fouls per 36 minutes.
The low assists combined with the scoring is further verification that he is looking to score, anyway he is not a guard. It is expected that forwards when given the ball will put it in the hoop.
As a JC transfer coming in as a Jr the staff must believe that he is going to contribute meaningful minutes.
Is Coleman being penciled in as Jones' replacement?

A little digging...he was recruited by Wagner, Longwood, UC Riverside and Norfolk State.

It's nice to see CCSU compete well against our peers in the recruiting market.

He is a three point shooter. The video highlight on VC shows a three point game of 8 for 8.
We sure could use a guy who shoots 100% from three. Am I expecting too much?

Now who is leaving? With four incoming freshman and one JC transfer, I count 15 scholarship players?
Am I missing something?

Newcomers:
1 Krishnan
2 Ellis
3 Underwood
4 Wallace
5 Coleman

Returnees in no particular order:
6 Hicks
7 Talek Williams
8 Camacho
9 Batiste
10 Kohl
11 Hugely
12 Bute
13 Kay
14 Chris Williams
15 Bowles

Obviously one of our more versatile recruits.
From the MaxPreps website:
http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/ian-kri ... efault.htm

From the Proctor blog:
“For the fourth time in the last eleven seasons, Proctor’s varsity football team has completed an undefeated season…..Ian Krishnan ‘18 (Boyds, MD) has added 400 yards and 4TDs on 54 carries.”

Krishnan seems like the real deal. As a two-sport guy, perhaps he'll be one of those late-bloomers who takes off once he's focusing on hoops full time.

***So I started a blog dedicated to CCSU hoops and wrote the Krishnan commitment up there: https://www.thebluedevilsden.com/single ... ts-to-CCSU

One thing that didn't make it in the post: Based on New England Recruiting Reports rankings, Krishnan is the highest rated New England recruit to land at CCSU since Matt Mobley. The only other higher rated NE prospect was Chris Baskerville, waaay back when. That includes Austin Nehls, Kashaun Hicks, Tyson Batiste, incoming Will Ellis and Aaron Hall. Not that the rankings mean anything once the season starts, but there's reason to believe that Krishnan could make an immediate impact, perhaps even starting in the backcourt (and will probably be more ready to assume playing time than Ellis will).

As for who is gone off the roster; it's anyone's guess. Based on Twitter-research, there was some fun back and forth last week between Donyell Marshall and players Mike Underwood, Batiste, Hicks and Hugley (basically Underwood was suggesting he was going to beat them all in a 3-point shootout). So I'd doubt any of those players will be leaving.

I'd guess that the players who got limited PT last year; Talek (who has no reference to CCSU on his Twitter page) and Chris Williams, Kay, and Camacho would be the most likely to not return? And of course, last year Kevin Seymour went from major PT at PG to transferring, so I guess Eric Bowles could do the same. And obviously, everyone's worst nightmare is that Tyler Kohl doesn't return. At this point I've not even seen clues as to who may be leaving.

***Don't worry, I won't be "that guy"...this will be the one and only time I will promote my blog here on this site (you can follow me on Twitter at @BlueDevlsDen (note no 'i'). I was looking for a passion project and felt bad taking up so much space on the forum with some of my long winded monologues. All my game previews for next season will be over there, and I'll still be around here to talk hoops.

My guesses and only guesses on who would leave would be, Bowles, Kay and maybe Hicks. If just one of them left, we'd have room right? We had three spots open, Nehls left, makes 4 and 1 more would pave the way for the guys listed above, right?

No, two need to go. Three have left...Laney, Jones, and Nehls. And there are five incoming.....1. Krishnan 2. Ellis 3. Underwood 4. Wallace 5. Coleman
That is 15 scholarship players and there are only 13 scholarships available.
