I am surprised that BC would go to UofH, but the Chase Arena is head and shoulders a better venue than the Detrick Gym.
CHase arena as far a physical characteristics is bette.. but the actual design SUCKS.. Its like sitting in a drum all the sound is amplified off the rounded roof right back in your face. I hate going there.
All true but I'd take it over ours all day and on Sunday.

Agreed Hoops. It presents itself well on TV too.

I would love it if the Chase Arena was on Centrals campus. Come on, it's a no brainer.

No way - that place at Hartford has no energy. It is like the old Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati - outdated just a decade after it was first built. While it does have an "arena look" on the inside, it is not much better than a what we have, if we were willing to invest in "arena style" seating. Yes, that won't likely happen, but I still like the idea of Fenway-type renovations to Detrick Gym.

Personally, the best building model for CCSU is either the Events Center at Binghamton or the Multipurpose Athletic Center at Monmouth

Those arenas are definitely desirable, but my point is that if I could trade Detrick for Chase without any cost, it would be a no brainer.
As far as having no energy...the energy does not come from the building but rather from the people inside of it.

I was at the Chase Arena once and was not impressed. The Detrick Gym will never be featured in Architectural Digest, but from a functional standpoint it works. At least until something better comes along. Whenever that is. If ever. Maybe?

Very cool. Had not heard about that game, but like it!

DePaul is led by one of DM's former assistants at UConn, Dave Lietao. And, we know CCSU alum Pat Sellers is on the bench as an assistant for the Blue Demons.

Beside the personal connections between the 2 programs, I love the road game in Chicago. Central will also play in Cleveland this year. More exposure in the Midwest is a good thing for CCSU.

Agreed J.J. Playing in fertile recruiting ground such as Chicago is a major plus. We don't currently have any outstanding scholarship offers to kids in Ohio (at least not yet), but it's still a good thing.

Another connection is that Donyell Marshall spent two seasons with the Bulls, and three seasons with the Cavs. That probably has very little to do with the scheduling of the games, but it's kind of interesting I think.

Initial thoughts:

-3 home games is a major bummer. None on a weekend. At last the students will on campus for two of them.
-Better beat UHart, or looking at an 0-4 start.
-Road games in some interesting markets, including NJ, NYC, Cleveland, Chicago, Boston.
-I'd sign for 5-8 in a heartbeat. NC A&T, UMass-Lowell, NC A&T, Coppin, UHart would all be tight point spreads. Brown/Northern Illinois also winnable.

I love the schedule. Challenging, but there are the possibility of some wins in there.

Agree that the lack of home games is disappointing, but those are 3 of the "most winnable" games on the schedule.

I like the aggressive nature of this schedule - DM is not backing down and he is exposing the team to a variety of opponents.

4 "Major Conference" opponents (Rutgers, St. John's, Boston College, and DePaul) from the Big Ten, ACC, and Big East!

3 interesting "Mid-major" public universities (Cleveland State, East Carolina, Northern Illinois). These are schools/programs larger and better funded than Central, but they should certainly be our "peer group" when it comes to men's basketball.

Plus the usual mix of locals (Hartford, Brown, Maine, UMass-Lowell) and 2 beatable MEAC opponents (Coppin State. and North Carolina A&T)
