Re: 2020-21 Non-conference schedule

This isn’t just the NEC Hoops. I checked a few other similar conferences and they have precious little info on any of their sports. I know that CCSU is hoping for a BB season but I think every school in the country is taking this one day at a time...even the big boys. I live now in Tampa Bay and the...

Re: Mark Ojakien retirement

IMHO...he was useless and the whole CSUS system is a bloated bureaucracy that shouldn’t even exist, at least not in it’s current form. Unfortunately, he’ll probably get a nice pension with his collective service in the state for basically doing nothing to advance the four state universities while tr...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

As you guys know, these are (probably) pay day games. At least every one except Indiana.

From Merrimack to Ohio State, these SID’s must be pulling their hair out trying to come up with some kind of season.

Re: Deleware at. To next?

I’m not sure if it’s the NEC taking action, or if it’s Howard that’s being proactive and they did mention that the current footprint for the subject sports is too large. The MEAC does not sponsor these sports and it looks like Howard had them divided among other conferences. This may be a way of How...

Re: Deleware at. To next?

I was just saying that academically, Howard fits in better with the Patriot League than the NEC. Let’s face it, the Patriot has some of the better schools in the country with BU, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and the US Naval Academy. With all due respect to the CCSU and NEC, we don’t compare with the ...

Re: Deleware at. To next?

Saw a few social media posts suggesting Howard to the Patriot League due to academic standard similarities. 🤔

Re: Deleware at. To next?

Given that semi-serious consideration was given to adding DSU years ago, and now this story, I’m expecting a “go” with this.

IMHO...it’s a good addition and one of the few (if any?) lateral additions to the NEC as opposed to a D-2 to D-1 jump.

Re: MEAC meltdown

I recall that DSU was the subject of an addition to the NEC Years ago. It may have been as a football only member at the time.

Having said that, it would be great to have another state university in the league.

CCSU Football in the news.

Totally bored so I found a couple interesting articles. Obviously more ink than we normally get from the local press.

Re: No Surprise there

Actually, NJIT going to the AE is a good fit for both primarily because of football...or lack thereof. If CCSU was invited to the AE, we would have the same problem RMU is having. We would really struggle finding a conference that would accept us as a football only member and football is one huge br...

Re: No Surprise there

I’m surprise it took this long to see anything in the press. Football will be a problem. Who knows? Maybe they’ll drop it if the NEC refuses them affiliate status.

Re: Sharks on Ice

Hoops, I’m not so sure that football makes any money at all. Don’t get me wrong, you may well be correct but Dr. Miller told me directly that these pay day games are so football doesn’t bust the budget and merely allows football to break even. But yes, this program probably makes the most $$ and is ...

Re: Sharks on Ice

Me 2 but we are flat broke. Especially now as enrollment has dropped and the university is reimbursing students. Also, we recently dropped two sports so I’m sure there is no way we’ll see moving up in Ice Hockey. To paraphrase our previous sentence said to me “If you think I’m going to build a new a...

Re: Fall Semester?

All Florida public colleges and universities are planning to open with on campus classes this fall with individual plans that will follow general safety guidelines.

It will be interesting to see how the football schools handle the season. There are five D-1 public university football programs here.
