Re: Next Season

We won't know anything until we see what kind of season is played, if any. I'm a huge Pat Sellers fan as well, but I'm also excited about the next generation of CCSU alumni in the coaching ranks. We got Obie (a former CCSU assistant coach) doing some work in the NBA scouting/development, plus guys l...

Re: Kyle Vinales

I'm 100% with Hill on this one. Overall, I'm glad he was here and OK that Howie took him back after he flirted with transferring to a bigger program. Let's be honest, he was more than capable of playing at a "higher level" program and I don't begrudge him for looking at greener pastures - everyone L...

Re: Kyle Vinales

Great player but selfish player, then the injury, then the issue and finally the quitting of the team. Not my most fav Blue Devil.. Well in fairness, he was definitely a shooter first, but I thought he did well most of the time sharing the ball. The fact he is reached 1,000 points faster than any p...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

With the news that the Ivy League is canceling all sports for Fall 2020, CCSU loses a third football game - Oct. 10 at Columbia. Good news is Princeton has to cancel their game at Army on the same date. I propose a simple swap - Oct. 10 Central Connecticut vs. Army at West Point That would be aweso...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

Hearing that NEC schedules are being revised and we'll see some updates online soon. I'm personally skeptical that we actually have a full season this fall, but I give the NEC and everyone credit for trying to make this work. I just don't think anyone (especially CCSU) has the budget for constantly ...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

Here we go, wording to me says this is the first delay before they cancel. https://northeastconference.org/news/2020/7/9/GEN_FallSportsReturnToPlay_NEC_20.aspx Agreed. Good first step, but we still have almost 2 months before school/sports start, so I agree that we should continue to monitor the si...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

Big Ten will play a 10-game conference-only schedule for football in 2020. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29435295/source-big-ten-moving-conference-only-model-all-sports-fall UConn loses 2 games, which might also open up an opportunity for a CCSU-UConn game this year. 9/12 - UConn ...

Re: 2020 Non-conference schedule

Football schedules this fall are a mess everywhere! Rumor has it that the Ivy League is seriously considering cancelling all football games this fall and instead play a 7-game Ivy-only schedule next April. That would obviously mean that CCSU loses another game on the schedule (Oct. 10 at Columbia). ...

Re: Football transfers out?

Mignone transferred to Vanderbilt, great offer and will complete his graduate program there. Even if he gets little playing time, after being a 3 year starter at LT for CCSU, which was a great opportunity for him, he's thrilled to be able to be at Vanderbilt in the SEC. CCSU gave him that opportuni...

Re: Deleware at. To next?

I was just saying that academically, Howard fits in better with the Patriot League than the NEC. Let’s face it, the Patriot has some of the better schools in the country with BU, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and the US Naval Academy. With all due respect to the CCSU and NEC, we don’t compare with the...

Re: Deleware at. To next?

4 year graduation rate is one of the criteria for college ratings. But at least in Central's case, that does not indicate the quality of the education. Central has a lot of "blue collar" kids who have jobs in order to pay for or help pay for school. Many of them skip or go part time for a semester ...

Re: Deleware at. To next?

Shoreline is right our acceptance rate is generally pretty good (lower % is better), but that is just one metric. The fact remains, CCSU's academic ranking is generally horrible compared to our "peers" in the America East and even in the NEC. Most of this is due to our very low 4-year and 6-year gra...

Re: MEAC meltdown

A perfect outcome here would be the NEC adding just Howard and Delaware State . That would give the NEC 12 schools for basketball 10 for football. 1. Bryant 2. Central Connecticut 3. Delaware State 4. Fairleigh Dickinson 5. Howard 6. Long Island 7. Mt. St. Mary's 8. Merrimack 9. Sacred Heart 10. St....
