Re: KenPom not a fan

How about Evansville (Horizon) upsetting #1 Kentucky in Lexington. Or even the NEC's own Merrimack earning their first D-I win at Northwestern (Big Ten). Again, we know CCSU has many barriers (budget, conference, etc.) limiting our ability to achieve a high-level of D-I success. But those same excu...

Re: @ St. John's

Guys, no offense, but calling a timeout wouldn’t have made ANY difference in the outcome of that game. Sometimes the best thing a coach can do is to let his players play through adversity and figure it out. The new trend in coaching is not to OVER-coach. Honestly, really think about it...You’re the...

Re: 11/5 vs. Hartford

According to Kenpom, of the 238 teams to have played a game against a D1 opponent so far, our average experience of 0.62 years is the 4th youngest. Those younger: Memphis, which had the highest ranked recruiting class and started 5 top 100 freshmen; Wichita St., who played mostly freshmen and sophom...

Re: 11/5 vs. Hartford

This was written by Joe Chambers : Hartford lost all five of their main scorers from the 2019-2020 season. With only a few players returning, I see this as a rebuilding year for Hartford. Their top five scorers from last year totaled 68.5 out of 83.1 ppg. The Hawks are going to have to deal with lo...

Re: 11/5 vs. Hartford

Hoops...that's a very good question, and I've been thinking a lot about that...what happens in April 2021? I think if they are terrible this year and next, and the young guys don't appear to be improving, then Brian and the administration probably have to cut bait. But I do think that, if say they f...

Re: 11/5 vs. Hartford

I get all the pessimism, and I'm not a DM apologist, but many of you are overlooking the fact that there is more talent on this team than there has been in a decade. They played like freshmen last night, and this season could be rough. But if you didn't expect that coming in, I dont know what to tel...

Re: Exhibition vs. Coast Guard

Agreed, no way to tell from that. They did what they had to do, unlike last year vs Arcadia. A short time will tell us next week for sure vs d1 competition. The two most talked about Freshman Outlaw and Tennyson, came as advertised. They can play. As can Coleman and Xavier Wilson. Ola is a project ...

Re: Exhibition vs. Coast Guard

If you're looking to get up to speed on where we are as the season approaches, I posted some "Thoughts" over at TBDD. TL;DR this season might not have a ton of wins, but could be a fun "building for the future" sort of season.

Re: 1st Day of Practice

Here we go people. I honestly have no idea what to think about this team this year. Hard to get much worse than last year so I'm expecting at least a playoff team. Only time will tell. Go Blue Devils! Please get along this year... I doubt this team makes the playoffs, though anything is possible. T...

Re: CCSU and Syracuse offers scholarship to 7-foot sophomore Donovan Clingan

A lot can happen in two years. I can almost guarantee that if the kid wanted to commit to Syracuse right now, Boeheim would be like "well wait a minute, let's see how much you improve over the next two seasons". More often than not, there's more than meets the eye regarding scholarship offers. There...

Re: 2019-20 non-conference schedule

No, we do not belong in the AE. Go read my last blog post regarding operating expenses. In 2017 academic year, CCSU spent $201,226 on men's basketball. Average NEC program spent $292,241. Only FDU spent less. The average AE program spent $393,759. Albany had the lowest budget, at $250,527. I've hear...

At UMass-Lowell 12/1.

I believe CCSU is releasing the full schedule today.
